Adyar Talk

Adyar has a history. And a halo. And with Adyar Talk, now adorning your hands in vibrant colours, we propose to add new chapters to that hallowed history. Or rather, a colourful chapter every week, chronicling the happenings in your vicinity as they unfold.

What is the need for one more local newspaper, when the area is already awash with dime a dozen of them every week- end? Well, we did ask the question to ourselves before embarking on this rather ambitious venture, but I must admit, only after taking the decision to go ahead. And promptly we were able to cook up a few alibis for entering the fray. But alibis apart, it is real passion that is driving us; passion for journalism and printing excellence. And an overwhelming urge to spread and share that passion amongst you. Reason why we decided first and sought to rationalise later. That is the power of passion.

Now back to the basic question. True, there is a crowd out there in the neighbourhood segment. And hats off to them all seemingly small fishes the pioneers and peers in the new media who are making waves, not ripples, in an ocean infested by sharks and octopuses. Yes, we are foraying into this segment with total humility and the highest regard for the competitors. Yet Adyar Talk hopes to be different from all of them. This issue will stand testimony to that. It will be both a Reader’s delight as well as an Advertiser’s dream.

The discerning reader in you will be treated to path-breaking journalism with hardcore news stories, forthright columns, photo features et al, all forming a variety fare that will enliven your weekends. Adyar Talk will be at once educating, enlightening and entertaining. Every vibration in Adyar will find its resonance in Adyar Talk, it being your eyes, nose and ears in the locality. The pulse of Adyar can be felt in its columns.

And in Adyar Talk the Advertiser can now look for quality advertising space to purvey his wares, in excellent paper, impeccable printing and resplendent colours, week after week. And the distribution network will be sweeping, gradually bringing the entire area, barring only the reaches beyond the beaches of the Bay of Bengal that dot the landscape, under its wide arc. The distribution will also be incisive, invading every nook and cranny in the area and knocking at every household that mat- ters to the advertiser.

Now whoever said the Rupee is weak? The ones spent on ads in Adyar Talk would call that lie!  Of course, we know that this is no one way street. We look up to you, the residents of Adyar, for your unstinted patronage in the form of feedback and frequent interaction. For our part we promise to inundate your neighbourhood with colour, content and coverage. As they say, Adyar can take it.
